Peking University Medical Press
Peking University Medical Press (PUMP), founded in April 1989, is a national specialized publishing house and key university press under the Ministry of Education. The publisher prefix is ISBN 7-81071.
The Press publishes a wide range of books, including
medical textbooks, supplementary medical course material,
medical monographs, translated books, dictionaries,
illustrated atlas, and popular scientific booklets.
In the 14 years after its establishment, it has published
more than 1,400 titles, with a circulation of more than
1.6 million copies and its reprinting rate over 50%.
Its publications are well-known for their high quality
and diversity, and have gained for the Press much social
reputation. In 1995, it was selected as “the advanced
university publishing house” by the Ministry of Education.
In 1995, 1997and 1999, it was honored three times as
“ the national excellent publishing house” by the State
News and Publishing Bureau; in 1996, 1997 and 1998 three
times praised for its outstanding achievements in publishing
scientific and technological works by the Ministry of
Health. One of its publications, Vessel Biology, has
won China Book Award. Nearly 60 books won prizes given
by the Ministries.
In recent years, it has done much in international
exchange, getting involved in international copyright
trade. It has introduced into China academic monographs
and textbooks from the U.S., Great Britain and Japan.
Along with the expansion of the market, it is fortifying
its cooperation with other countries.
The Press is composed of a Routine Office, the Chief
Editor Office, the First Editorial Office, the Second
Editorial Office, the Third Editorial Office, the Multi-media
Editorial Office, the Quality Inspection Office, the
International Cooperation Department, the Publishing
Department, the Marketing and Sales Department, and
the Department of Reader Service.
